So it is officially Spring!
I am more than ready to say goodbye to Winter for another year & enjoy the lighter nights and warmer weather! To kick off Spring, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite products to use at this time of year. There are some old favourites and some newbies which I just can’t get enough of. Spring for me is all about the bright colours, fresh scents and glowing skin & I can rely on these products to deliver time and time again! I wave goodbye to my favourite cinnamon scents and deep lipsticks at this time of year and definitely shake things up in my beauty regime. So here it goes!
1. Body Products
Sanctuary Radiant Skin Exfoliator – For those of you who read my blog often, you will know that I absolutely rave about Sanctuary’s Brightening Face Exfoliator (for good reason). I haven’t long discovered the radiant body exfoliator, which is pretty much the same thing but for the body instead. The packaging on this I assume is the older Sanctuary packing, because I picked it up in my local TK Maxx and it isn’t the trademark Orange casing that they now have. I have also raved before about the Sanctuary’s Gentle Polish Body Scrub (this was my favourite) which is currently available, but this formula knocks socks off that one! It has a much more porous texture, and because of this it seems to work wonders on my skin. I love an exfoliator all year around, but I definitely increase my usage at this time of year when I know that summer is just around the corner. Although this packaging is not readily available anymore, Sanctuary stock various scrubs in their current range.
St Moriz Self Tanning Mousse (Dark) – I do use tan all year, but again like the body scrub above, I do increase the use at this time of year. I never use sunbeds, so to compensate for the lack of tan, I fake it! I have spoken about this tan time and time again. It always has been my favourite. I spoke about how my method of tanning here.
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula – I can never get enough of this scent! The smell is so nostalgic for me and reminds me of years ago when I used it absolutely religiously. I have no idea why I ever stop! It has a very strong coconut scent, which is perfect for the Spring/Summer months. It also claims to smooth marks and tone skin, which is perfect in time for the warmer months when my pins will make an appearance! It is pretty thick for a spring time moisturiser, but it is amazing for using between applying tan.
Ted Baker Body Spray – I have looked so many times for this exact body spray to repurchase, but I just can’t find it! It contains bergamot and red fruit with gives it a really light and fresh smell. I love having a body spray in my handbag at this time of year to freshen up, especially with a fruity or floral scent like this one. I usually reach for the muskier scents, so switching it up for the Spring/Summer months is a must!
2. Face products
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact – Rose – This is a new find for me and I cannot believe it has taken me this long to try it! For those of you who know me or read my blog regularly, you will know that I don’t usually reach for blush. But this has completely changed my opinion! Its shimmery finish means that it is extremely subtle on the skin, but just gives a very subtle pink glow…perfect for Spring! It isn’t cheap, but I picked it up in a local discount make-up store for a bit cheaper than its hefty £33.00 price tag!
Airbase High Definition Micro Finish Powder HD Glow – I recently completed the Airbase Training course, and I purchased this whilst I was there. It is extremely finely milled and has a very light finish. It leaves an amazing radiant glow on the skin and is perfect for the tops of the cheekbones. A little goes a very very long way, so it is going to last me ages. Although I bought it on the course, you can buy it here . This will definitely be taking me into the summer months as well as spring, and it will be a must on any holiday!
3. Lip Products
Now that we are in Spring, the deep berry tones have been put away and the bright reds and oranges have made an appearance. Don’t get me wrong, I have no qualms about reaching for a bright lip in the middle of Winter, but it is at this time of year when they are used the most out of all my collection!
Revlon Matte Balm Lip Crayon (245 Audacious) – (Bottom swatch in the photo) Again, this is an old favourite that has made an appearance on my blog before. It is very moisturising, which means the staying power on its own isn’t the best, but over a lip pencil it is fine. It has literally lasted me ages and the wind up packaging is so handy (no sharpener required!)
MAC Lipsticks (Lady Danger) – (Top swatch in the photo) This can be grouped with the one above in terms of colour. It is between a bright red and orange and I usually pair it with a darker lip liner to create an ombre effect. It has a matte finish, so has amazing staying power, but it can be quite drying!
Smashbox Lipgloss (Ruby) – I don’t usually reach for lipgloss, but I have been loving this one recently. It has been in my collection for a while and it is only now I am noticing how good it really is! The pigmentation is fantastic for a gloss (middle swatch in the photo above), and it looks great over a bright lip colour like MAC’s Lady Danger above. The only downfall is that it is extremely sticky on the lips. It doesn’t bother me too much, but I know that it can really put people off purchasing a lipgloss when it has a tacky finish (especially if you have long hair…hair stuck to lipgloss is not a good look!)
4. Nail Polishes
From left to right:
- China Glaze ‘Purple Panic
- OPI ‘I eat mainely lobster’ (epic name!)
- OPI ‘That’s Hula-rious’
I love switching up my nail colour at this time of year from the darker tones to bright, pastel colours. These above are a few of my favourites. OPI and China Glaze are my favourite nail polish brands, along with Maybelline’s Forever Strong range. All of them have amazing staying power, a great range of colours and insane pigmentation!
So that’s it for my Spring must-haves! I hope you enjoyed!
