FIRST IMPRESSIONS ❤
SO I HAD A PHONECALL FROM MY MUM THE OTHER DAY SAYING THAT SHE HAD BAGGED A FEW BEAUTY GOODIES FROM BOOTS FOR SPENDING £50.00 IN STORE. I HAVE TO BE HONEST I WAS EXPECTING YOUR AVERAGE SAMPLE/TRAVEL SIZE FREEBIES THAT YOU USUALLY HAVE FOR SPENDING OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT. SO WHEN I WAS GIVEN THIS, I WAS PRETTY SURPRISED!
Now I have looked online since, and can’t seem to find a link to the offer anywhere. It may just be an in-store offer or it may have expired, so I decided to do a ‘first impressions’ to make a useful post out of such a great deal!
CHAMPNEYS HEALTH SPA – BODY LOTION (£8.00 full price)
I am the first to admit I do not need another body lotion…but if it is free right?! I am trying my hardest at the minute to get through my existing body lotions/butters as I have so many of them, so for a new one to stand out to me is pretty rare!
The one thing I love about this product is the citrus ‘spa like’ scent of lemon and orange. I think it is either a ‘love it or hate it’ scent, as my mother absolutely hated it! It reminded me of the scent which was in the Spa on my honeymoon in Mexico, so it takes me back every time I apply it.
It isn’t a very heavy texture, so it is lovely to apply after a bath or before you jump in bed as it doesn’t take long to sink in to your skin. It did leave my skin soft and I will definitely use it up, but I don’t think it has any extra special ingredients that make it any different from all the others. The only thing which makes it stand out for me is the scent!
Soap & Glory, Arch De Triumph Eyebrow Shaper & Highlighter – (£7.00, full price)
I was so happy when I saw this, because I already have it…& love it! The pencil is dual ended. One side is a eyebrow shaper and the other a highlighter. I am not such a huge fan of the eyebrow shaper, as it just doesn’t give enough colour pay off for me to create the dramatic brow I like. However, the highlighter is amazing and well worth £7.00 on its own. It is essentially a bright white highlighter which can be used just under the brow to highlight the brow bone and define the brows. It has great staying power and creates a beautiful highlight!
Soltan Once Face Moisturising Sun Cream SPF 30 – (£10.00, full price)
I am a big believer of using SPF on my face to prevent the ageing process! I always use an SPF over 30 on my face, so this is ideal. I know that most day moisturisers boast that they have an SPF factor in them, but I like to use a separate SPF which has a 5 star rating to really protect my skin from the sun! Too much exposure to the sun is the biggest cause of premature ageing and skin damage….& think of all that future botox money you’re saving!
I used this SPF this morning. It absorbed very quickly into the skin, left no ‘sticky’ residue and actually left my skin really soft!
No7 Airbrush Away Primer – (£16.50, full price)
I couldn’t believe that something so expensive could be given as a free gift…and it is full size! I love using primer, so anything which is going to minimise my pores and keep my make-up on longer is perfect. I loved the texture of this primer and it really did smooth the surface of my skin to create a great base to apply my foundation. It also has no scent which I prefer as the less unnecessary ingredients the better!
Mark Hill XL Volume Amplifying Lotion Serum – (£7.49, full price)
My hair is extremely fine and hard to handle, so I was really interested in trying this out! The product basically includes Marine Collagen which is meant to ‘plump fine hair, strengthening from within and building volume from the roots’…basically exactly what I look for in a hair product!
I applied it to my hair after towel drying it, focusing on my roots and combing through to the ends and then styled my hair as usual. I have to say I was pretty impressed with this! I usually use Bed Head Small Talk which is amazing to create volume, so to find something to compare to that is pretty difficult! I don’t think I would switch as I think Bed Head still has the edge for me (I think it is mainly the scent!), but this is a great alternative.
Botanic’s All Bright Purifying Face Scrub – (£3.99, full price)
This completely surprised me, and is without a doubt my favourite product out of them all! I am a big fan of Sanctuary Spa Brightening Facial Scrub, but I think this has completely converted me! I love my Sanctuary Spa Hot Cloth Cleanser and use that daily (updated skincare routine coming soon!) but every couple of days I like to use a scrub to brighten my skin and to remove any residue or dead skin cells sitting on the surface of my skin…& this is perfect for just that. It contains refining walnut shell to buff away flaky skin and also includes apricot seeds to help you remove any impurities. I don’t think I have ever felt my skin feel so soft after using a scrub before. The scrub itself is quite fine but there is a lot of it, so it doesn’t feel too porous when using it. This is definitely a winner for me!
So that’s it! I hope you enjoyed this first impressions blog.
