THE BEST & WORST: MAC LIPSTICKS

HI GUYS!

So today’s post is all about MAC Lipsticks….

The lipsticks I mention are either because I reach for them the most OR because I regret buying them!  There are quite a few to get through…so lets get going….

NUDES/BROWNS

Top to bottom: Pure Zen, Plastique, Velvet Teddy

To be perfectly honest, these  are the nudes I tend to reach for the most . I find that Velvet Teddy is a little harder to work with, purely because it is a Matte finish. However, it does stay on my lips for the longest time. The only one I completely forgot to mention here is Cherish. It has a Satin Finish so it is less harsh on the lips than Velvet Teddy but isn’t far off the colour either. I would recommend this over Velvet Teddy if you find that the matte finishes drag over your lips.

Top to bottom: Pervette (Glaze), Saint Germain (Amplified), Snob (Satin), Pretty Please (Lustre)

Out of all of my collection, this colour range is probably the ones that I now reach for the least. However, I really wanted to mention them because at the time when the lighter lips or the ‘foundation’ lips were all the craze, these were my go to colours! I don’t necessarily regret buying them, as they served me well at the time, but both Saint Germain and Snob are definitely now the worst in my MAC Collection. They blank my lips out completely, add no colour and drain my complexion. Pervette is a glaze finish and Pretty Please is a Lustre finish. Because of this they are more sheer on the lips and can be ‘smudged’ out to not look so harsh. Although they are still not what I reach for, they do not get completely neglected like the other two!

REDS/ORANGES

LEFT TO RIGHT: Morange (Amplified), Lady Danger (Matte),  Ruby Woo (Retro Matte), Night to Remember (Cremesheen), Studded Kiss (Matte)

I love adding a red lip to a make up look when I am going out or just to make me feel a little more put together!  These red/ orange based shades tend to be the ones in my collection that I reach for the most. The two more orange based shades (Morange and Lady Danger) are the colours I use when I want to create an ombre red lip. I use a dark red lip liner and fill in the middle of my lips with one of these to create the ombre. My go to stapled red lip is a ‘night to remember’ because the cremesheen finish makes it easy to work with. Studded Kiss is beautiful for the Autumn/Winter, although I do find, like all matte finishes, it does drag on my lips.

I didn’t want to use lip liner here, just in case it changed the shade or the finish of the lipstick in any way…so excuse the fact that the looks aren’t as put together or as ‘tidy’ as I would like!

STUDDED KISS

So that’s it! Now this is by no means all of my MAC Lipstick collection. Lets face it…as a girl, many of my MAC Lipsticks get lost in handbags for a century until I stumble across them again. However, these are the ones in my collection that are either the shades I have worn to death (at some point!), have become my every day staples or are bold enough for me to remember.

I thought this post would be helpful for those of you considering a new lip purchase…I hope it was helpful! Thanks for reading!
