I know I am a litte late showing you the October edition as it is the end of the month, but I really wanted to post this & give my first impression of it!
Now this was my first time ever to purchase a beauty subscription box. I shopped around at the different ones available, and finally decided to try Glossybox. I was like a kid at Christmas when it got delivered…there is something really exciting about not knowing what is inside!
The first thing to note is how quick delivery was. The package arrived by recorded delivery within two days. It was in pristine condition and I had no issues in that sense. The only thing that has annoyed me is that I cannot seem to get back onto my account in any way shape or form to view my membership (which makes me think I have purchased a one off box). Whatever the case, it is slightly annoying that I have no way of logging in and reviewing my order history etc.
I paid £9.50 for the box (including delivery). The subscription service allows you to sign up for all different types of memberships (i.e. monthly, six monthly, yearly) and whichever one you choose will determine what price you pay. However, I literally just Googled a discount code and found one which allowed me a percentage off my order (the joys of the internet!), so it is definitely worth looking for a code before pressing confirm!
NOW LET’S GET TO THE BOX…
The box and contents came beautifully packaged, and I would definitely consider purchasing a one-off box for a gift for a friend purely because it is gift wrapped so beautifully! There were a few leaflets/vouchers on top of the wrapping which I won’t go into, but they included a discount code for Graze Box and other similar food stores. (Lets be honest, these are not the reason we purchase these type of items…but handy I suppose)
PRODUCT 1 : LIP PARFAIT – BUTTERY LIP CREAM (12.95 RRP)
This packaging is beautiful and the consistency of the lip product itself is lovely. However, the colour is way too light for me. The box does suggest to mix it with the Lip Stain Duo (below) which is an option! I think if I do get any use out of this it will be using it as a lip balm. It is infused with Vitamin E and claims to keep lips hydrated and plump, so it may be useful as an overnight lip moisturiser.
PRODUCT 2 : THE BODY SHOP DROPS OF YOUTH CONCENTRATE (£25.00 RRP)
I am SO excited about this product. I absolutely love serums/facial oils, especially ones which claim to have anti-ageing benefits. I know I am still young, but I still like to use anti ageing products every so often (not too often as I do not want my skin to get ‘used’ to them!) The product size in the box is the teeny size of 7ml (I believe the full size product is 30ml). I have used it once and it felt beautiful on my skin. It is also completely organic which is definitely a plus for me as I love natural skincare.
PRODUCT 3 : UNIVERSAL BEAUTY COSMETICS, SECRET FLUSH, SMOOTHING CREAM BLUSHER & LIP STAIN DUO (£15.00 RRP)
This is, by far, my favourite product of the whole box. This is unusual for me, as I am not a blush lover. However, the shade is absolutely perfect for my skintone. It is a peach/soft pink colour which suits my complexion. I love how the consistency is so easy to blend in and the staying power is amazing. I have also used it on my lips for work in the day and it just gives a natural flush to my lips. A definite winner for me!
PRODUCT 4 : BEE GOOD HONEY & CAMELINA FACIAL EXFOLIATOR (£10.50 RRP)
Again, a product I have fallen in love with! This exfoliator claims to gently lift and exfoliate dulling dead skin cells without irritating. It smells beautiful and the grains in it are small enough to not be too harsh yet big enough to make a difference. I have always loved an exfoliator and often use one in my skincare routine, so I will definitely be adding this into my routine now that I have discovered it!
PRODUCT 5 : PS…PRO HD MASCARA BLACK (£3.00 RRP)
I wasn’t too excited about this at first as the retail price was only £3.00. There is nothing wrong with affordable prices, but when you are paying a subscription for a box, you expect big things! However, I warmed to it when I realised that the PS PRO is a collection available in Primark. If I do like it, it means its easier for me to get my hands on in the future! I am yet to open this, as I want to use up my current mascara before unsealing this one. However, the mascara claims to volumize and lift lashes. It has a flexible brush and a creamy formula that doesn’t clump. Personally, this is not the type of wand I would particularly go for, but I will definitely give it a fair chance!
PRODUCT 6: THE MYSTERY SHAMPOO
There was a travel size shampoo within the box which had its branding and packaging removed. The idea is for you to try it and see what you think before the brand is revealed. I have a good idea who it is, but I am planning to use it first before I confirm it. I also want to do a blogpost all about my first impressions of it, so look out for that!
WOULD I REPURCHASE/STAY SUBSCRIBED?
Now don’t get me wrong, these subscription boxes are ridiculously fun. To pay for something upfront and then unwrap it once it gets delivered to your door with absolutely no idea of what is inside is more exciting than it should be! I also like the fact that out of the products inside, I would have 100% have purchased some of them at full price. This includes the cream blusher (£15.00) and the Facial Exfoliator (£10.50). As these are the full size products, I have definitely got my moneys worth. However, I cannot imagine the disappointment of being so excited for your box and then opening it up to find you dislike all of the products in there. I think I will just pick up my subcription up every so often when I feel like I want to, but it is not something I am going to subscribe to religiously every month. With all that said, I cannot fault this box…and I had so much fun with the whole experience!
So that is it!
Thank you so much for reading!
